President Uhuru Kenyatta is today set to host Western Kenya leaders in a consultative forum to churn the regions development agenda in State House, Mombasa.
In what is seen a preparation for his visit next month, the President tasked Devolution and ASALs Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa to bring all the region’s governors and leaders of Parliament to start the preparations.
The leaders set to attend the Mombasa meeting include Devolution and ASALs Cabinet Secretary Eugene, COTU secretary George Francis Atwoli, Governors Wycliffe Oparanya, Sospeter Ojaamong, Wilbur Ottichilo, Wycliffe Wangamati, Patrick Khaemba, senate speaker Ken Lusaka, majority whip Emmanuel Wangwe among a few select leaders.
Key to the discussions will be the development agenda of the region’s counties with infrastructure, water, health, industries and Agriculture. The leaders are eager to have President Uhuru jejyatta ensure completion of ongoing milestone projects, starting new ones and rejuvenating the region’s economic engines.
In addition, the President is also set to discuss with the leaders the politics of the region key among them the BBI.The President has scheduled August as the time he is set to visit the region.
